The Wasp Factory

                                                               Iain Banks (1954-2013)
                                                                             R.I.P.

The Wasp Factory, Iain Banks cult Gothick novel was first adapted for the stage by director Malcolm Sutherland for the Citizen's Company, Glasgow, in September 1992. It recounts the dark acts of deeply disturbed teenager, Frank Cauldhame on a remote Scottish island. The Sacrifice Pools, the Volt Room, the Ice Chamber and the Boiling Pool are names Frank has given to the places in his world, left to his own devices by his reclusive father. Frank invents a warrior cult and using a passionate dance called the Wasp Factory develops a brutal way of predicting the future.

The performers were Angela Bullock, David Illesley and Raji James.
